Saint Lucia Featured at New Taipei City Cultural Exposé
New Taipei City's Deputy Mayor Hsieh Zheng-da and His Excellency Edwin Laurent, Saint Lucia's Ambassador to Taiwan were among the attendees at the opening ceremony held at the Jisui Elementary School.
The Deputy Mayor used the occasion to announce that the City will be introducing International Education into the school curriculum from the elementary level. This approach was commended by Ambassador Laurent who noted that Saint Lucia and the Embassy can be a useful partner in this effort.
The Ambassador, moreover, emphasized the need for the upcoming generation to understand the wider world in order to manage it properly in the future. He noted that a lot can be done at the Government level including the twinning of schools; hosting of exchanges during the school holidays, cultural events, among others.
The Ambassador additionally encouraged the students in other schools and universities to engage with their counterparts in Saint Lucia via Social Media in order to expand their understanding of the outside world and broaden their minds and outlook.
During the ceremony, Saint Lucian student Chef Nyhymn Terrance demonstrated how to prepare local Saint Lucian cuisine and provided coaching to selected students who joined in on the cooking.
