Jersey Zoo bids farewell to its last Saint Lucia parrot

Jersey Zoo (Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust) bid farewell to its last Saint Lucia parrot.
The parrot, named Gabriel, was 45 years old and was brought as a chick to the zoo in 1976.
The Amazona Versicolor is the national bird of Saint Lucia and is also one of the endemic species of birds on the island. Although it is no longer endangered it is a vulnerable species and is therefore protected.
