The Embassy of Saint Lucia to the Republic of China, Taiwan held on December 9th, 2021 an event to promote Saint Lucia’s local products and market opportunities in Taiwan. In attendance were members of Taiwan’s businesses community which primarily included representatives from the country’s hotel, restaurant, and bar industry. Also in attendance were representatives of Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Guests were particularly introduced to the island’s world-class Chairman's Reserve line of Rums and had the opportunity to receive an in-depth overview of the history of its production and where it was produced – St Lucia Distillers-- through a video message by Mrs. Margaret Monplaisir, CEO of the company. This was followed by a virtual meeting with Mr. Pierrick Barrancourt, export manager of the products who gave a comprehensive introduction of the rums, their distilling and aging processes, as well as their unique flavor profiles.

Attendees also gained insight into the local market potential from Mr. Andrew Kuo, marketing manager of an agency that currently markets Chairman’s Reserve White, Original and Spiced rums in Taiwan.
The event ended with a tasting of the rum and other products local to Saint Lucia but produced in Taiwan by Saint Lucians. These included black cake prepared by Ms. Keisha Anne Felix and a variety of seamoss drinks developed by Mr. Nyhymn Terrance.
